Food Storage: Smart planning Extreme or paranoia?

!±8± Food Storage: Smart planning Extreme or paranoia?

I grew up in a very strict Christian family. According to my mother, every other religion was just wrong, end of story. The school consisted of a large LDS population, much to the chargin us non-Mormons. The LDS children are accused of a series of pull ankle pagans because we drank caffeine, our parents drank alcohol, and we did not spend six hours a week in church. We thought they were lame, because the LDS religion forbids caffeine (I think that changed himlittle time), drinking and entertainment in general. We all got a kick out of the pagan LDS storage area "Doomsday", which consisted of a minimum of 3 months of food rations and water. The idea, which had no access to food and water ridiculous!

Fast forward 20 years. My prejudices have faded youth. I look good in all people regardless of race, religion or political views (honestly still struggling with this one) to see. I also came to see the benefits of"Doomsday" emergency rations on hand.

American society must be the idea that government is always ready to help us out of trouble in a time of need used to. Unfortunately, the government can not always be there for emergencies in a time fashion. Hurricane Katrina is a prime example. How many people in New Orleans think they needed food and drinking water since they have been saved? Look at Haiti, the Asian tsunami, landslides, earthquakes, and the mother of all elseNature has thrown in civilization over the years. The shops are not always to be open in times of duress. Truck loads of supplies can not always reach their destination in time of need during natural tragedies, we always heard about the pockets of survivors, rescuers found the first few days or weeks after the emergency.

Then you look at the situation in our country. A country that is politically divided, strong emotions, Bags disorders. Add the fact that ourpublic money as if there is no end. We can be sure that both the government programs in the near future, such as WIC or food stamps to help in a time of need? You can guarantee that you still have your job tomorrow, next week, next year? If you lose your job, is how long the government will your benefits be paid?

We have millions of illegal immigrants coming over our border every year. If the government can not stop illegal immigrants, how can we be surecan keep terrorists armed with a dirty bomb in our country? How can we be sure that our water and food are not poisoned or destroyed? The big question is, if something really bad happens, you and your family have the means to survive?

I think a little preparation can go a long way to go. Meals available budget, up to 15 years. Some companies make fantastic packaged food that is healthy and tasty, and everything you need to add is water. If you have asmall amount from each paycheck for emergency rations, there is a good store in a few months. If you catch a sale to Walmart or Costco, you can pick up cases of bottled water for almost nothing. Water purifiers have come a long way over the years, and a good quality product can be picked up at a very reasonable price.
